Expansion Of Existing Marcellus Shale Gas Mid-Stream Gas Dehydration Facility To Add Compression And Other Equipment
Orbital provided retrofit engineering and design services to expand and add compression to an existing Marcellus Shale Gas Glycol Dehydration. An additional ethane pipeline was brought into the station. The project involved the addition of ethane processing and compression equipment, as well as the addition of compression to the existing gas dehydration facility. The new equipment installed included gas compressors, new pig receiver/launcher, new slug catcher, new separation and filtration vessels, additional condensate/water storage, new vapor recovery system, and new flare/venting system. The civil design included a significant quantity of pipe supports and equipment foundations, along with two new pipe bridges. The electrical design includes single line, grounding, cable tray, lighting and area classification. Significant changes were required to the PLC (which had insufficient capacity). A new control building and remote I/O panel was included in the design. The arc flash study was revised and a new report issued. A 3D model, P&IDs, piping orthographic drawings and isometrics were also included. Orbital coordinated with the client to identify the work required to be completed during a planned outage to minimize the downtime of the operating portion of the facility.
