Orbital in the Community
Walk MS: Highland 2019
Orbital employees, Cherie Davich and Jeff Formosa, will be walking with Jeff’s sister, Christina Goins MS Team and asking for friends, family, and co-workers to participate. Cherie’s sister passed away from complications of MS, so this cause is near and dear to her heart. The MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Society is an organization she has been involved with for over 20 years as a walker. Walk MS brings together passionate people who connect in communities nationwide and raise funds to change the world for everyone affected by multiple sclerosis. With nearly 300,000 people fundraising and volunteering each year, Walk MS has generated more than $1 billion toward our mission. Each step you take is backed by a supportive community.
Disabled Veterans Benefit Event – VetRock
Last year, Orbital employee, Bill Webdell’s church in Crown Point hosted it’s first annual VetRock concert. This is a free outdoor concert where all of the proceeds go to benefit a local disabled veterans associations. It was an enormous success. There were more than 500 people in attendance. They donated $16,000 to NWI Veterans Village, which is basically an apartment complex for homeless disabled veterans, located in Gary. On Friday, August 23rd, they will have their second annual VetRock concert.
This year, all proceeds will go to Veterans Action Council of Northwest Indiana. This organization is a cooperative effort among most of the veterans groups in our area, which provide aid directly to organizations that help disabled veterans locally. Attendance is expected to be higher than last year. X-Rock 103.9 FM will be there again, along with the bands Mr. Funnyman and Marrakesh Express. Orbital Engineering will be a presenting sponsor for this event.
