Flare Header Replacement
Flare Header Replacement
Piping and structural engineering project for a major refinery in the Southeast to replace over 1,500 feet of corroded flare/relief piping and piping supports in a progressive manner while minimizing refinery shutdowns. The scope included the replacement of existing carbon steel flare lines with both permanent and temporary piping, location and design of new tie-in connections, and the additions of new and modifications to existing pipe support steel. The project stages consisted of front-end evaluations to identify, prioritize and limit replacement scope, a finite element and piping stress analyses to determine minimal acceptable wall thickness and pipe support loads, preparation of a total-installed cost estimate, and detailed design of the new and temporary pipe routing and structural steel supports.
